Chris and Sylvia Moss of Normangee, left, have purchased The Normangee Star from Hank Hargrave, right. Chris Moss is the grandson of Billie Moss Bouldin and the late Bill Moss, who owned The Normangee Star for 50-plus years prior to selling it to Hargrave in October 2004. Chris and Sylvia Moss took ownership of the newspaper on Monday, and will relocate the office to its former longtime location at 100 Main Street, current home of Moss Insurance – which the couple also owns – and Moss Realty, owned by Bouldin.

A trio of Normangee Elementary School fifth graders recently won honors in the annual Bedias Creek Soil and Water Conservation District Poster Contest. Three winners were chosen from each school in the BCS&WCD, with the school winners then competing for overall BCS&WCD honors. From left, Normangee Elementary School winners include Jordan Embry, first place; Savannah Light, second place; and Gabriel MacMurray, third place. Embry and Light also finished first and second, respectively, in the overall contest, and will now compete in Area IV Soil and Water Conservation District competition. Also shown, in back, is Normangee Elementary School science teacher Tim Bayless. Theme for this year’s poster contest was “Dig Deeper.”
